THE mighty Arsenal are pushing for an incredible third FA Cup in four seasons after their dramatic 2-1, extra time victory over Manchester City in the semi-final on the weekend.
The Gunners will play fellow Premier League giants Chelsea in the Final and a win will see them take sole ownership of the record for most FA Cups with 13.
A record-breaking result would also see Arsenal bring silverware Down Under when they travel to Australia for the #ArsenalinSydney Tour in July.
After a tense affair in the first half, the game came alive after the restart when Sergio Aguero opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, giving Manchester City the lead. The Gunners showed great courage not to fold under pressure and with less than 20 minutes left they hit back with Nacho Monreal squaring the game and eventually sending it to extra time.
A scrappy moment in the 101st minute saw Alexis Sanchez poke the ball home to send Arsenal to the Cup final and fans around the world into raptures.
The result came at an important time for the club after a testing few weeks for fans and players alike and manager Arsene Wenger was proud of the effort shown by his team.
“It was a great game,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“We had a bit of a hesitant start, but we were solid defensively and I thought that we became stronger through the game, slowly took over and deserved to win it.
“I am very proud of the spirit the players have shown – there was a resilience and collective determination that is absolutely amazing.
“It was about how much we wanted it and that is why I am very happy. We won the game of course and played against a great team, but I felt as well that what was questioned was answered today on the pitch.”
Arsenal will face Chelsea in the 2017 Emirates FA Cup final on Saturday 27 May before heading off to Sydney in July for the #ArsenalinSydney Tour.
